When Business is Tough It's Time to Get Networking

Wondering why Lit Marketing is suddenly on the up again? Spoiler alert: it’s not a new app or viral TikTok… it’s networking.

Yep, good old-fashioned, in-person networking. The kind where you actually talk to people, shake hands (or elbow bump), and build genuine business relationships over coffee.

Here’s the backstory: Lit Marketing was born out of networking. In those early days (we’re talking pre-Meta Ads, before Facebook even had Business Pages), I spent at least the first five years showing up at events, attending business breakfasts, and joining local networking groups. That’s how I got my brand out there, built trust, and started growing my client base.

And guess what?
It. Still. Works.
Go figure, right?

I recently joined BNI Oceanside, and let me tell you — this group is next-level. It’s full of switched-on, supportive, dynamic business owners who somehow manage to bring the energy at 7:30am every Thursday (yes, even before coffee).

Since joining, I’ve:

  • Found my marketing mojo again
  • Expanded my circle of collaborators and business connections
  • Landed some fab new clients
  • Been reminded how powerful community is for business

The BNI model is built on “Givers Gain®” — the idea that if you show up, give value, and support others, the results come back around. And honestly? It’s true. You do have to put in the mahi (hard work), but if you’re up for it, the rewards are real.

So if you’re feeling a bit flat in your business, or looking to grow your network in a meaningful way — networking might just be the secret sauce you're missing.

Want to check it out for yourself?
I can bring you along to BNI Oceanside as a visitor (as long as your biz doesn’t clash with anyone in the group). Try before you buy, see if it’s your vibe.

Hit me up if you’re curious.
Networking: still cool. Still effective. Still growing Lit Marketing.
